Panda Refresher Of 2013

By Froilan Gauss

The Google Panda release of 2011 was a watershed moment for the search engine optimization field on the whole. The primary objective of the Panda release was to ensure that search engine results show genuinely content rich portals instead of portals that play on the technical facet of search engine optimization to get good search engine rankings.

The update was an immense success and it ended up affecting upwards of 12 % of all the results on search engines. Still, while Google's objectives were achieved with the Panda release, the release ended up sabotaging the SEO efforts of many online entrepreneurs and SEO professionals. Notably, the effects were such that most SEO professionals are scared every time a Google algorithm release is launched.

Even so, it looks like that earth shattering internet marketing algorithmic modifications from Google are not as common as most SEO professionals providing various SEO services believe it to be.

Still, while the fears are fair, a lot of Google algorithm modifications tend to be an improvement of an older released modification. Even the year of 2013 is starting to show the self same trend. In 2013, the first algorithm modification released by Google was a refresher of the older Panda release. As a matter of fact, Google has been making an effort to balance the effect of its algorithm updates to be more measured since it released the Panda and Penguin launches, which are known for improving the online landscape.

Something worth noting is that since Google released its Panda release, there have been countless improving algorithm modifications released by it. In effect, the way search results are filtered has improved. The impact of initial releases and their subsequent updates can be best explained by taking the example of Squidoo. While the first few modification demolished its search rankings, further improvements helped it to recover ground. This implies that even though some SEO experts may be fearful of releases from Google, some of them in reality turn out to be good for their web pages and the internet in general. Still, what is improbable is that search engine optimization bombs like Panda and Penguin updates would be dropped frequently.
